Remember that Kent Coast Theatre (KCT) arrive on your doorstep this July with their hilarious production of ‘Sand Castles.’
Bob Larbey famously co-wrote TV gold when he penned ‘The Good Life’ and followed it up with classic hits ‘A Fine Romance’ and ‘As Time Goes By.’ Of ‘Sand Castles’, he says, “It’s about chaos on a British beach, full of strong characters and hopefully a damn good laugh.”
William and Margaret Patterson have holidayed in the same place for years, and own a beach hut on the North Kent Coast. They don’t exactly rule the waves but they’ve turned the area surrounding their beach hut into a cozy little fiefdom.
They await the annual arrival of the Billet family, whilst also wondering what has happened to the Woodersons. The Billets duly arrive, bringing with them, not only Stan’s mother, but Bernice’s sister Pauline, on the rebound from a failed relationship.
Then, to everyone’s surprise, come not the Woodersons but ‘renters’; the affable Doug and his two nieces (or are they?). They have no idea of the ‘hutters’ unwritten rules and just want to have fun in the sun. Additionally ordinary holidaymakers start to encroach on the ‘Hutter’s’ beach space. Confrontation is inevitable…
Kent Coast Theatre (KCT) present this hilarious gentle comedy, which was written in 2000, at The Arden Theatre in Faversham from Wednesday 11th -Saturday 14th July, with evening performances at 7.30pm and a Saturday Matinee at 2.30pm.
